Tamworth eye loan deal for Villa keeper Siegrist

Does anyone know anything about him? And what do people think about Danny training with Mansfield and possibly on the way out

Good keeper, helped Switzerland win last year's U-17 World Cup, where he won the "Golden Gloves" as best goalkeeper. Highly rated at Villa and is named in their reserve squad for this season. Not sure they will let us have him for a season.

Don.t think they know much about him. reccomendation i suppose,
Its a bit of a gamble, at least mills new danny and surely you build the defence around your spine.

sound,s like the new keeper is free for the year so suppose mill,s he is is using his budget elsewhere.

Shame for Danny, he was a solid keeper who all the fans liked,
rumours are that he was happy to sign again but he looks like being forced away

lets hope he gets fixed up at such late notice, he,s seems a quality lad

Why wouldn't they know about the winner of best goalkeeper in a major youth tournament who is playing at a local club that we have loaned players from before and probably have contacts at?

Got any evidence for this youth or are you just posting b***cks?

Well whatever the situation, would be a shame to lose Danny if we do with nothing being official

Looks like Danny will be turning out for Nuneaton today. Not sure where they got that picture from though, they probably robbed it out of his mum's photo album

What a waste of talent-gutted and a bit angry he's not been kept for this season

Shame we have lost Danny espeically to Scumeaton. But it now means we have no keeper as Siegrist is going on tour with Villa now the two game loan is up

As Gary and Darron explained on Thursday evening at 'Meet the Manager' they too did not want to lose Danny but had been offered a keeper ona possible loan from a larger club who would be paying his wages, therefore freeing up the wages that would be paid to Danny and Danny was one of the higher paid players. With a small budget the release of this wage could be used to bring in players needed elsewhere on the pitch, unfortunately this is the business of football.

Good luck to Danny wherever he settles, a good goalkeeper.

So the club would rather have a child in goal just because he's free? Ridiculous.

The approach, in terms of getting a free keeper on loan for a season is fine (if he's decent and you know he's going to sign !!).

However, the fact that the loan has fell through should re-prioirtise the need to keep Alcock...dependent on the commercials around Danny's wages ...

Teresa here. Sorry to disagree Lady red, but Gary did not say that they had been offered a goalkeeper. He said that they had spoken to a number of clubs and that there are plenty of goalkeepers out there, in fact far more than there are outfield players. Gary went on to say that he has always been able to ''pull a rabbit out of the hat in the past'' and the goalkeeper situation is covered.
Gary did not say that Danny was one of the higher paid players.
The reason for my concern is that between November 07 and December 08 Gary did in fact bring 5 goalies to The lamb (between Viega and Alcock) hardly a record to inspire confidence and now the latest recruit has played 2 matches and left.
Not sure where you get your info from regarding players wages, however I find it hard to believe that a manager like Gary would make Danny one of the higher paid players when in fact Danny only trained once a week when others were training 3 times a week!

My apologises I may off got the information incorrect about whereabouts in the pay scale Danny was but the point was that to get a squad of 16 ish players did mean making sacrifices and if 'free/loan' keepers are available then the money is available. I have faith in our Manager, surely it proves again what Gary said if a player doesn't fit with the squad he isn't afraid of making changes (when he can) until the right player is found.

Also as Gary said and as you yourself has said Danny couldn't train with the team so he is searching out a new keeper who can train and form that relationship with the back four especially. Considering we have new players in these positions this is more of a priority this season.

What concerns me is the fact that for a second time we will loose another keeper of this leagues standard to a lower league club; and of all clubs" Nuneaton again" We were short in one area last season, and as yet i'm not covinced that has been sorted, i only hope that will not turn into two this term?

Alcock, though a decent keeper, was not "league standard". If he was he wouldn't now be training with Nuneaton "f***ing" Borough/Town/United/Albion/Alliance or whatever they are called this year.
I have no doubt at all that Mills will find a goalie as good as Danny before August 14th.

Stop panicking people, 15th place is ours, no hassle.

Probably referring to the fact that the keeper you called a child is only a year younger than you, and 5 years older than your girl friend!!!!!!!
