Sure its Mills Nephew who helped us out a couple of seasons ago against Worcester (away) Plays for Northampton spencer fc. So it would seem we will be having the Villa lad for the season when he returns with the villa?

Ah, is that the plan? I thought he'd gone back for 'good' rather than a temporary thing. Seems a bit odd if that is the way it's working, surely would have been better to get him used to the team and vice versa. Guess we'll have to watch this space!!

His name is spelt Markie that maybe why you cant find him. And he was just to cover for tonight from what ive heard there are quite a few keepers avaliable and theres a few irons in the fire.

Yes that's him, seem to remember him having some connections to Mills and if I remember rightly he didn't appear to be the greatest of goalkeepers. I'm getting slightly worried about the goalkeeping situation now, it's a vital position for a team like ourselves, fighting down the lower end of the table and I think we need to get some experience in between the sticks instead of freebies and Mills' relations!

Im hoping that he has got some ideas of possible keepers, and with only 5 games of pre season left Millsy needs to speed up to give the team time to gel before the season starts.

Re: Jake. I've not seen any of the pre-season games yet, but I've heard this trialist 'Ben?' somebody or other is impressing on the wings, so I guess Mills is looking at adding him, and giving him a good few games to judge.

It was my first pre season game last night due to work commitments but I was reasonably encouraged by what I saw. The goalkeeping situation definitely needs sorting but I could have played in goal last night to be honest. Markie took a couple of decent crosses and cleared his lines well but the back four in front of him looked solid and Hednesford didn't create a great deal. To offer a thought on a few of the new signings, Marshall is a big strong centre half who wins his headers and who I was quite impressed with and I know Craig Reid's a returning player rather than a brand new one but I liked him first time round and he could offer some vital pace in our back line. Perry will be a handful for any side but he didn't have a massive amount of service before he was taken off last night. Ben Fairclough came on and really did make a difference second half. He was pacey and direct and looked a skilful lad too. The squad at the moment is obviously still a work in progress but the back four looks potentially well staffed with Tait, Reid, Marshall, Wylde, Mitchell and possibly Rowe too. The sort of Xabi Alons deep lying distributor role will bring the best out of Mackenzie too I think, so on balance I'd say I've got more reasons for optimism than for worry at the moment.

Teresa here - At the meet the manager question and answer night, Donald asked about Jake Sheridan and Gary replied 'Jake has a slight knee injury but will be o.k . for the start of season' He also went on to say that Jake has a big heart and would go through a brick wall for this club! Lets hope he doesn't need to.!!
