Must admit losing likes of Hoenes and then more importantly Obeng was slightly worried. Today with new signings announced much much happier. C19 will have a massive impact on teams budgets in this league and looking good that Board fully backing our Management team. Had initial doubts how not 1, not 2 , but 3 ‘managers’ could work together but it certainly looks like they have a much bigger knowledge base on players who could perform for us at current level as a 3. Having the Management Team back in full for me also shows a massive determination in them wanting to right the wrongs from the season that didn’t happen, as well as a large chunk of last seasons squad resigning. Just hope when we start obviously belated that the League Committee don’t pull the rug with 12 games to go again because some of the teams below us get get upset that there below us once again. Remember Blue Blazers never change colour, as doesn’t other clubs self interest Thumbs Down

In fairness, you can't knock any club acting in self interest. They have at every level of the game and it is understandable as they aren't charities.

As for us, having a lot of the same players will be a plus. Most successful teams have continuity and are very rarely thrown together in the space of a summer. Cause to be moderately optimistic when we start.

Took me a while to work out what you meant. I know you're a southerner but you're not from Louisiana! The word's Autumn! ;-)

As for the new boys, if fit and up for it, Lindon Meikle is one of those players like Laity who can change a game on his own so fills that gap well.

O'Connor's signing looks a bit like Hearn's was to me. Been there, seen it, done it, still decent but will probably play as big a role in bringing on McDonald, Creaney and Waite as he does on the pitch.

Will still be able to chip in but I doubt he'll play 90mins 40 times a season - could still have a positive impact though.

How wrong you are Pricey. Loads of Wiltshire’s undesirables were sent on ships to America in bygone days. Strong connection ever since. A fall out from that (see what l did there) is that certain American slang have been used by us Wilts for centuries. Another one which is used a lot is ‘you can’t put lipstick on a pig”, Wilts has a strong agricultural background hence the pick up. There you go a bit of education for all you Midlanders and anyone else born north of Watford. Always willing to help you lot up here.Thumbs Up

Genuinely feel a bit educated. Would honestly never have known that. Thought "fall" was exclusively for the other side of the pond.

I think my favourite regional phrase is to describe someone not too appealing to the eye "got a face like a bosted frog".

As for the self interest bit, it was why consulting clubs would never work. I could have predicted with 100% accuracy the clubs in the prem who would have voted for null and void, PPG and play on respectively.

It'd be like govt asking manufacturers to set import and export tariffs. They'd all have a hugely self interested agenda and it would be absurd.

The edict should've come down from the authorities and applied to every division. The PL and championship are being dictated to by the god of sky, L1 and L2 plus step 1 and step 2 clubs are taking a huge financial gamble on play offs. It'll pay off for the winner and be a needless financial burden for all the others.

I've not watched a minute of the football behind closed doors. Jock Stein was right - "football is nothing without the fans..."

Google the whole quote if you like. It's older than me but it nails this situation exactly.

I know you’re a big fan of Hoenes but they were both a little light physically and it didn’t take much to get them off the ball. These new additions look a lot stronger on the ball and hopefully that will get more shots in the back of the net.

Obeng was possibly stronger than you give him credit for and had a real good run the 6/7 weeks before lockdown - sad to lose him really.
