Well, what on earth happened there? After a fairly insipid goalless first half where Tonks's throws created just about every chance we had, I would have questioned the sanity of anyone who said that game had six goals in it.
It was exciting in the end and a good 3 points. Great cameo from McDonald. Gave us a totally different attacking impetus when he came on but we have to also accept we may have got slightly lucky. I was behind the home dugout so at a poor angle to judge the pen and while Tonks was definitely fouled after a terrific run, my life savings would not be bet on whether it was in or out of the box. After that Goughy's goal and McDonald's both took handy deflections and the keeper made a complete rick for the third. It was a game that showed we have a good spirit in the camp but there were times (and I know this sounds funny when we scored 4) that we looked a bit toothless up top. Looking forward though it's a potentially valuable 3 points (obviously depending on how this season actually gets resolved in the end) and encouraging to think that we still have Magunda, Waite, Yafai, Forde, McDonald and Creaney who could legitimately hope to force their way into that starting xi. It was also lovely to get league football back at The Lamb and I shall enjoy it as long as it lasts. Edited by Pricey2 - 26 Sep 2020 at 7:59pm |

After the thrilling game on Tuesday night the first half today was a dour inept performance when we could not string two passes to each other and the foreward line could not get a hold of it. Warning signs were evident with St Ives low corners to our near post which we nearly conseded on two occasions only to finally sercomb to the same tactic in the 2nd half.
We didn't deserve to win this game but will take it, Hopefully the management will learn from this game about their players. The substitutions made all the difference again but to be challenging at the end of this season we need to play with more urgency and move better off the ball and defend better. As noted and should be mentioned by GS and AD we have some important players out at the moment and its up to the current team to keep them out. On this performance they can't get back earlier enough.

Good result and one that could be vital
On a side note the attendance on 339 is shocking for the first home game of the season and it is making me start to question if this all ticket idea is really the best way forward. I know a number of people who like to leave it at the last minute so I think people should be allowed to take their chance, if they can’t get in then it is what it is. We’ve not had par 400 for a Saturday league game in some years |

I take your point about the gates but I think the club are on a no win here. They need names and contact details as part of the track and trace obligations so doing that as people come through a cash turnstile will cause queues (something we are encouraged to avoid as per covid).
The all ticket part is undoubtedly deterring some, as is the virus and combined, they are reducing crowds significantly. There are a million things wrong with the govt guidance and there has been since March and social distancing in lots of settings (certainly primary schools) is simply not happening I know and 600 allowed at Rushall while 1,000 can't go to Meadow Lane (capacity 16k) shows the idiots making the rules have never been to these places. All that said, if we have a situation in a league fixture where queues congregate on the car park and over 600 attend with people getting turned away, the club will get blamed rather than it be chalked up to individuals and we will be barred from attending full stop. This may be coming anyway but we can't take the admittedly small risk of causing it. I know it seems absurd but I do feel for the horrible situation the club are in. |

If it doesn't start, my secondary worry is what are we even playing for?
But we'll cross that bridge if we are still playing in a couple of months' time. |

You can think I'm wrong, but that's no reason to quit thinking.
