First visit of the season, game and home support one word, Sterile, a very long way back to the Conference prem, hope to appear now and again, but probably with less expectations, the left backs sky rocket clearance when under know pressure was a cracker, both sides on this evidence will be no more than mid table at best.

As for the new pitch frome the castle end still loooks to have a slope, unless my pre match drinks impaired my vision

The joys of be a TFC supporter

F A rules they have to offer seats at standing prices if no standing is offered to away fans but offered to home fans at a cheaper cost.
Is that a new rule. Because I'm thinking of Rushden Diamonds. There no standing there for away fans but there was for home fans. I am old so l am getting absent minded, but I am sure Tamworth fans had to pay a premium to sit down.

NWL - Mid table at best comment will sit uncomfortably with several on here - maybe more? - but it's where we are and what a number of us predicted when squad assembled at start of season - sterile home support comment not surprising at all - have been saying on here for many seasons after the initial shouting of support for the team which l hope we all do - TFC have to give us something to shout about and again what ever the stats say - the actual home performances have actually been worse over what 5 or so seasons in terms of playing open and attractive football - the joys indeed of being a TFC supporter.

You're right about the slope. George showed me round a bit when I picked up my season tickets and told me the slope had been reduced but not removed so you hadn't had too many.

In fairness, for those who like to criticise the club, this summer has been by far the most proactive in terms of improving facilities that I can remember. I don't think we have a promotion looking squad but if we've set up a better infrastructure that can generate non matchday income then that has to be positive long term.

If the criticism was aimed at my post , hold on I've lived with that slope all my 50 odd years as a supporter and had know problem with it, but as for improving facilities for fans that not greatly changed has it.

Long term is great if the money is there, few years back we had a good youth teams only to disbanded to pay for a better first team , did that happen , no, but irrespective of what happens my loyalty to the club doesn't change, onwards and upwards.

Happy with money invested in club in terms of pitch and possibly the evental extra funding stream - but the £1m Sir Bob paid without any grants l understand will take what several years to break even on investment - and yes endorse the new youth set up but again it will take several years before we see any impact to hit the first team if indeed it does -Yep hope for the future. BUT - it's the here and now that's got to be addressed and next what 2/3 seasons - we cannot stagnate on pitch - whilst this season is not over mid table is looking more than likely. Unless AM can get right balance on pitch and we start playing a brand of football which touches on 'attractive' ' home gates will drop - last 2 seasons we had play-off places to keep interest.

NWL - not sure how you interpreted that as a criticism of your post. I was just saying you were right about there still being a slope in all honesty.

The rest of it was "aimed", if that's the right word, at those who pop up wanting AM sacked every time we have two disappointing results which was half the reason I've been on far less often - he's the first manager I can remember who's been involved in hugely altering the infrastructure of the club for the long term benefit. I'm under no illusion that he's Pep Guardiola but I don't think we are going to have a queue of people better than him lining up for the job if we got rid.

I, for one can put up with a midtable season (which I don't think is necessarily the best we're capable of but acknowledge could happen) given that we have our own academy and a load of kids using the pitch for training which wasn't happening when he arrived.

The Stan Petrov shout is a weird one too - tremendous player in his prime and deserves massive admiration for how he's battled cancer (my old man is a cancer survivor too from an age not much above Stan's when he got it) and I wish him all the best wherever he goes but the idea a 37 year old bloke who's been through what he has and hasn't kicked a ball above Sunday league level for the last 3 years is inevitably going to boss it in this league is a bit fanciful I fear. Don't take that as knocking him in any way. It isn't. I'm just thinking realistically.

Heard the middle/end of a sports radio bulletin yesterday that someone was talking about a coaching non-playing role with Nuneaton - assume that was Mr Petrov - and it would make sense on the playing side - why would he want to put his body through hell at such a combative level at his age.
