I don't think that it is as simple as finding one player to replace Newton. If there was a player out there that was obviously that good he would already be playing for, or at least on the radar of bigger clubs than us. It has to be more a case of finding a playing style, with more pace, movement and imagination than last season to allow chances to be created for players from more positions rather than relying on one man up front to shoulder the burden of scoring the goals. So far we seem to be going for younger players with a few experienced ones alongside which in my opinion is the way to go, maybe we will uncover another diamond like Danny.

Can't see AM finding anyone of Danny's calibre to be honest, who else could cover the amount of ground he did during a game, one minute he was scoring and the next he'd be playing full back. The new lad AM has signed has got an almighty task ahead of him,but you never know,he might just prove me wrong, let's hope so.

Didn't AM "find" Danny Newton though?

Goalscorers cost money ,you can't spend half your budget on one player and being part time doesn't help either ,you have to be lucky and unearth a gem ,but once you do they get snapped up by the big spenders and ambitious clubs
Loanee striker an option but if he does well the mother club want him back

But according to all the moaners on here AM can't find his way out of a paper bag and then we're all over the loss of Newts due to his ability whilst conveniently forgetting that it must have been AM who found found him!

B2 - and long may AM continue in finding those unlocked gems - we need another 4 please which will make the difference between us pushing for top 7 place - or signing similar to already got and we will be cheering every point - still time and positive - just found 2 more bottles - the seasons getting better by the minute

Spot on this. Brought in  Curtis Strong,  Dan Jezeph, Andy Burns,  Louis Ezewele (who I think could be really class) etc as well.
Think as a 'gem' Dean Rathbone might end up surprising people, if he gets a deal.
Big year for Jed Davies too. Hope Jack Lane really kicks on again too.

Agree about Ezewele Benjamin. Liked what i saw of him in the short period he played last season. Depends on perhaps what sort of psychological impact that injury may have had on him,but he's a young lad and hopefully will come back stronger.Looks to have a bit of pace about him so am optimistic

Getting a bit desperate guys - let's start talking about players who may surprise a few people after we sign them - Rathbone if signed is a risk coming up the league - not saying not worth trying and would love to get him on board but it could work or maybe not - need 4 big hiters proven to complement a workable squad - to me Dean would not be one of the 4 but a useful sideline addition.

If you are expecting 4, think you might be disappointed. Two poss three I would imagine.

Think pound to a penny you'll see Rathbone go to heather st johns with his mates

AM didn't find Newts. Newts had a good game against us so he signed him. Deeney controlled the midfield for Worcester against us, so he signed him. Mills ran Preston and Tommo ragged against us for Corby, so he signed him.
Notice the pattern? It's a shame we couldn't get the likes of Danny Lloyd, Simon Ainge & Ngatwala ;)

This is heresy against our Devine leader Shed and will get you into problems my fellow supporter - next your be saying AM has limited contacts no no no no don't go down that bumpy road - we've been here before - so as threaders on here who know more than me reckon that 4 new quality signings is out of the question - await with interest whether future additions to our squad are either injured, Welsh or have Wrexham connections - just joking you Argus haters - hoping for some quality though or my current prediction of finishing 7/8 points above bottom drop zone will be placed on here in tablets of stone - sorry about my medieval references - just finishing the Last Kingdom on catch up - after all 'dysentery is everything' - see how l did that LK watchers

I think we will sign two central midfielders from the dregs and that will that until November time unfortunately. Here's to scraping 7th, I'd take that right now

I dont think we are building a team to get promoted, we are building one not to get relegated.

We will never challenge under Morrell.

I'm sure if it was up to Andy he would be splashing the cash. Maybe Mr Andrews feels he only wants to spend the current amount and not try to gain promotion

Would probably do more harm than good getting promoted ,unless like you say things changed massively financially to give us a realistic chance in the conference

How long before the renting out of the ground and hire of it starts making a profit?or does Bob pocket the takings?

Apparently it costs £50,000 a year to keep the pitch in tip-top condition. Would imagine fees collected go towards upkeep.

Rubber crumble - machine to keep it brushed - all cost a fortune. But we've got a great surface.

The idea of these artificial pitches is that they recoup money spent in 1st 2years then everything after that is profit based ,upkeep is easy with right equipment ,no mick the shovel required :)

Speaking to the guys at the club a couple of weeks ago they told me that the cost of maintaining the pitch throughout the season was minimal. They had the company that installed it do an end of season maintainance check to make sure everything was OK and the cost of that was £5,000, not £50,000

It's a shame you cannot post photos. Check out the pre season photos of the players in two parallel line doing drills. At first thought I thought the nearest to camera was Jack Lane and he'd had a good summer. However I realised he was in the background. Does it look like Matthew Blinkhorn to anybody?

But is it MB?- we all have body doubles - before anyone starts on me again and it hurts - think mine still is Robert Plant in his prime - Mrs Argus disagrees however - whilst l wake up every morning shouting my bodies a temple - her reply yep - 'Bristol Temple Meads' - nobody loves me and l don't care (see how l did that BY)
