So far then the only name linked with us is Tyrell Belford, is it just me, or does anyone else not think he would be a decent signing to compete with Dan Jezeph for the first team place, Football League experience and came through Liverpool’s academy with some very good players, he is cut from good cloth as well, his brother was pretty good for us a few years back, and everyone knows his dad. Also there is issues with injuries, but never seem to mention Jed Davies and Brandon Fox, do they still play for us? I didn’t see anything to say they left, I think Davies went on loan to Hednesford, but seemingly only played 1 game?

Jed is still out on loan and Brandon Fox injured I think

Tyrell is a no from me.
Anyone else without the surname Belford linked?!

Seen Belford several times. Hates crosses. Would be another Rowley. Would concede lots of goals. Mason Springthorpe would be a better bet. He is a more complete keeper and he is a free agent at the moment.

Are we looking at Mason Springthorpe, seems to have had a similar youth upbringing as Belford, but a lot more experience at non league level too.

Tyrell has signed for Swindon Supermarine

Fair play to tyrell ,think anyone with the name belford would steer well clear of tfc
Can't understand the fans resentment for them

So halfway into down time and still nothing - we need at least 3 quality signings to turn season round as on pitch we can’t even afford the odd draw now - oh hum - club with no ambition - prove me wrong AM

They won't sign loan players until next Thursday or Friday.

I guess permanent deals depend on if Deeney goes or not

Will be very interested in next years accounts - looks like player budget has to be less season on season - Reid for Wasp a prime case in point plus we can’t be paying Zack anywhere near what we were paying Styche? Ironically we have Team Builder money still available - bet AM is really sh*tting himself cause he will soon have to make decisions

Posted By: Coleshill Lamb
Date Posted: 14 Jan 2018 at 8:40pm
These signings are crucial because we need at least 11 more wins and only 17 matches to get them. I'm prepared to be underwhelmed with players in.The loss of Styche without a whimper has made the difference for me. A miracle is needed to replace him. Zack needs to go back to Steve Claridge on loan for starters.

Hence my comment CL - No ambition - club happy to be where they are and likes of us fans where we are - and let’s not forget AM replaced Wasp for Reid now that’s an even bigger whimper and he’s had even longer to sort the mess out

Posted By: Skippo10
Date Posted: 14 Jan 2018 at 11:01pm
Replacing Newton was always going to be near on impossible and Reid looked like he must of showed some promise in the early days for Wolves to sign him, but it hasn’t worked out from our point of view, Styche was our only source of goals, and he has now gone, we really need three quality players a goalkeeper to replace Rowley (could be a loan), midfielder to replace Deeney and a striker to replace Styche/Newton, maybe even a player from the lower league who is scoring a lot of goals.

Posted By: Skippo10
Date Posted: 14 Jan 2018 at 11:07pm
Shaun Harrad, once of this parish is scoring a lot of goals for Matlock Town this season, and has plenty of football league experience, still relatively young at this level at the age of 33.

If Morrell had any sense he would get his signings in place for the RAF game - If he had any sense that is.

And still no one talks of the need to sign quality defenders despite the amount of goals we are conceding! Yes we need a goalkeeper of quality and a midfielder to replace Deeney (happily take Fox on loan) and a proven goalscorer, but all these mean nowt if you cant keep the damn thing out of the net at the other end!!

We’re in a right mess - simple as that - worst team I’ve seen since 2002 (Mills overaged team will be eclipsed by this one by the end of the season) - you would hope if we could get quality players in others would raise their game - however all were talking about is by the looks is a goalkeeper- midfield- striker - track record of AM getting decent players in and in a timely fashion is very poor - even with Deeney and Styche in team we needed additional quality to be bought in. More chance of a relegation dog-fight than a promotion push. Another wasted season on the pitch me thinks

Think Argus9 just about sums it up.Another wasted season.Personelly not even bothered now if we have a game or not which my wife will find hard to believe. The manager and board dont seem too concerned so they must be happy the way our season is slowly becoming a non event, and please lets just forget talk of playoffs until we have a team fit for the prem.

Strange that a smaller club than us,Brackley, should have much better players and are regularly higher than us in the league. Better manager?

I’m sure that when the Herald hits the shelves on Thursday we will read something like “ I have many irons in the fire, my phone is red hot from making calls about new players” ?????
Just a wild guess really but that is the usual smoke shield from A.M.

Know that we haven’t got the biggest budget in this league however AM has shown limited skills in managing the budget he has - Reid being the case in point - obvious to almost all on here very very early apart the ☕️ smellers he was never going to be the answer as our target man. AM should have moved heaven and earth in moving him on and trying alternatives be it on loan or trailists or heaven forbid signing someone else. Zach another target failure - he’s a winger at best and can’t even get into our team in that role - we now have CT in that role - HE IS NOT A TARGET MAN in any shape or form - AM has failed on so many levels - no urgency about him and hates making decisions so it seems. If we beat Brackley it will only paper over the widening cracks I’m afraid. He’s got to go buts what’s even more worrying my gut feeling is he will still be our manager next season.

On the subject of Brackley, Coleshill Lamb then it could be said that based on previous history, then yes, they do have a better manager in Kevin Wilkin, or at least a more successful manager, who took Nuneaton to 3 promotions i believe, albeit only once from the National League North to the Premier. They were also riding fairly high in the Premier, flirting in and around the play off places 1 season i think. He didnt quite pull up any trees at Wrexham however if my memory serves me correctly. He has taken a lot of former players he had at Nuneaton to Brackley, players who had also enjoyed success at Solihull after leaving Nuneaton, namely Gareth Dean, Andy Brown etc. I may be wrong but i think that someone is chucking money in at Brackley, and although it doesnt guarantee success it certainly helps.

Morrell has stated He's been to lots of games recently. I wouldn't think He's after another club's first-teamer from this league or the one above. So that leaves a player from a lower league perhaps. Think teambuilder will be getting nervous?

Joel Ambalu? Decent prospect from  West Bromwich Albion. Only a kid, scored a lot of goals at lower levels.

Would have been looking at him as one potentially for u21s. No big deal.

Where are these signings at then? I am so bored of morrell, he talks a good game but never backs it up. We need players and quick, otherwise we could be in big trouble if we're not careful !

The club are just happy to accept mediocracy, no wonder the attendance is decreasing. I've seen much worse teams than us go up on smaller budgets like north Ferriby. Just because we are 'punching above our weight' it doesn't mean we can't compete for play offs.

No one can tell me that ALL the teams above us and they are increasing month on month have bigger budgets than we currently have AND ALL have managers in 4th term of trying or in AMs case failing

I don't agree with that either, just using the quote that George Delves and Morrell constantly say as a bit of an excuse.

We are in the middle of a bunch of teams that have good form.Teams below us are only a couple of points behind and are winning games.I can see us dropping down in the table in the next month.Morrell has had 11 days since our last league fixture without any news of signings. Why is the club so secretive? (undisclosed fee, signing announced tomorrow etc) They'll be holding a press conference next. The players last night didn't want to be there and put in little effort. He couldn't inspire them against an amateur team.

If we don’t win on Saturday and Boston win against NF which they should we will drop a place - United have a tougher game but again if they win we will drop 2 places if we get beat by Brackley - 11 days and counting - don’t forget we were promised 2 strikers with the money freed up by Styches move - that makes it tons more that the 11 days - oh hum

I wonder why Dan so many are sceptical on here to be fair - striker replacements this season Reid (who AM obviously doesn’t even rate) and Zack (brought in as a striker and can’t even get into team in his preferred winger position and AM again doesn’t rate) - CT preferred over both now as a target man - l say again if Scum or Likes of Telford had done this we would be
- it is your right to blindly follow and drool over your hero but don’t expect everyone to follow suit

Posted By: Coleshill Lamb

It's not the player I'm moaning about really. He's only a young man. It's the managers inability to secure what we need.We now need two defenders also. The standard of player available for loan must be lacking if Morrell can only get teenagers to do a man's job. It's a tough league and it's doubtful that Turner is going to fire us into the play-offs and beyond. Of course the manager may have a gem up his sleeve for saturday that we know nothing about yet. Let's hope so.

A day ago people were moaning AM was not trying to utilize Midland football league contacts.

Now he goes to Port Vale to bring someone and gets grief still

Posted By: Coleshill Lamb
Date Posted: 17 Jan 2018 at 3:04pm
I think when he gets players in who are reasonably experienced and know their trade He will not get grief. Getting a multitude of teenagers in will not push us up the league.Playing centre-forward is a tough job. It's rare to find a young player who can do it.Nottingham Forest have one.If Mr Morrell unveils a proper centre forward by Friday I will be happy,as will most supporters. He needs to get a centre-half by friday as well, and not a teenager.

Not critized the Turner signing whatsoever Two Gates - just AMs previous lamentable efforts in target men signed this season and even you and Dan can’t disagree with that - don’t see the 1 month duration as a problem - either side can move on with a degree of pride left in tack if it goes 🍐 shaped - BUT seriously guys if Turner can’t deliver and turn the team round if ONLY signings and AM promising so much again in getting numbers in OVER many months - he will get sh*t on here trust me

Posted By: Argus9
Date Posted: 17 Jan 2018 at 6:35pm
So here’s a question that needs to be put - if we have a Team Builder account being seriously underused by AM and team in free-fall - who’s fault is that exactly guys

Perhaps Teambuilder don't trust the Manager and want to preserve the cash and not fritter it away.I'm sure they would release it if an exciting signing were to be made.

100% 🍄 land I’m afraid - Signed Turner but is that it for the week-end - mixed messages about RAF trailists some say for Under 21s - 🐇 out of the 🎩 time more in desperation than any AM strategic plan going forward me thinks - we’ve had weeks now since last game to get in quality if we had any desire to progress THIS season - but maybe I’m rushing as it’s only year 1 of the 5 - moaning you    bet - todate we’ve signed a striker for a month to replace Wasp-Reid-Styche-or Zach - No Deeney replacement and a goalkeeper we’ve told yet again your sh*t and your going to get replaced but obviously not this week maybe next - you bet my anger management tablets not working - join the joke and attend on Saturday just like me

In fairness though in the article in the Herald about signing Dan Turner, and suggestions that Ben Fox is a target and Joel Ambalu is looking to earn a contract, Morrell said we have “Irons in the fire” which is good enough for me. 😂😂

Tell you what Skippo - a front line of Styche and Brodie flanked by Knight and Powell would be interesting- not saying good enough to get into play-offs but trust me you wouldn’t be able to take your 👀 of the pitch for the whole 90 minutes for fear of missing something going on - also certainly better than what we currently have available

How do you know players haven't already been signed/deals agreed.
Both clubs have to give the green light for announcements.
It's the same through the leagues from top to bottom.

Goalkeeper more likely to be for next week, unless can push it through.
Luke Jones fit, no defender as yet.  Left back still trialling I believe.

Think the plan was for a more experienced keeper but had to get Stevens in today as cover for Dan, whose injured.
Striker is still wanted, not sure a defender is seen as priority

We could have done with a left back for the past 18 months

Agreed and we had one in strong but never played him

To  be fair, Strong was not the same player after injury....don't think he's pulling up any trees at Nantwich.

I'd like to see young Aldhouse  given a run

Rhys Sharpe who we had on trial pre season should have been signed. Streets ahead of Morley

Of course the manager may have a gem up his sleeve for saturday that we know nothing about yet. Let's hope so.

Yep proved right CL - nothing against Turner who put the effort in but men against boys - muscled out against some big defenders I’m afraid to say - same as Connor Taylor who is not a target man but yet again AM knows different - nothing to do with budget guys - AMs chosen target men either on wing (Zack) or bench (Reid) - at least we have Shaw back long-term
