Hard job.
No one gives any praise to many managers!
Let’s see who wants it!

Another puppet on £60000 a year and company car ..
Why not give a young manager a try what do we have to lose ..
Someone with no expectations or I've done this and nearly won that ..
Give it someone with passion ,ideas ,enthusiasm and desire .
Why pay 50 to 60 grand on a manager when we can use it on players wages

AM was in his 30s when given the job

About time. I agree that behind the seasons with the younger teams that he has done tremendous work, but with the first team, it has to be the poorest Tamworth first team we have ever had. I don’t think you can blame lack of funds, it was more lack of contacts. Hopefully we can now finally move forward.

Read any of the 'in the know' people tonight on twitter ...Styche, Belford etc ..all have raised the fact the budget was not good for this league

I assume TFC Ryan you are too young to remember the days of the old Northern Premier League when we were absolutely awful. Trust me the present team would wipe the floor with the teams we had then. If its the worse Tamworth team you want then some of us can remember 1 season in the Southern League days when we won 2 games all season. That was easily the worse Tamworth team i can remember in 55 yrs!

I've heard one or two rumours around the mill last couple of weeks, we'd been in talks with this Kevin Wilson. Got to be honest I know little apart from did used to manage Nuneaton? Can anyone shed any light on him?

Yeh he wasnt well received by Nuneaton fans so god help us if its him!

I am unfortunately too young, I’ve been following for at least 13 years now, so for me in my opinion this is the worst set of players we’ve had

True, the results were awful then, but for some reason I have fond memories of the team from that time. Micky Warom, Kenny Price, Tommy Fallon, Andy Maddox, Roy Sullivan, Ian and Shane Ward, happy memories

Would happily have Roy Sullivan as goalkeeper now IOM. One of the best we have ever had in my opinion. Didnt he set some sort of record for penalty saves as i remember?

Not a great shock in view of the results. Good luck to Fowler.

Looking forward to Alfreton on sat, and hopefully a win.

Are you going Argus ?

I don't think Steve Burr is in employment. I believe with his contacts and knowledge in the area he would do a job for us. What do you think ?

This was on the cards though the timing is strange why did he not go after the Boston game, the chairman has also let him get new players in and then still sacked him, let’s hope he has someone lined up who has good contacts.

Sorry Argus glad they are both well.

Let’s get behind Fowler, a couple New faces are required in the way of center forwards. So let give him a chance.

Hopefully the Mike Fowler Honeymoon period will see us through the next few critical weeks - all we need is a bit of momentum starting on Saturday

He's manager of Stalybridge.
Fowler's job, barring disastrous results.

He's part of the team that got us into this mess and part of the team that failed to get a centre forward in for 12 weeks. No thanks.

What was morrells budget?
What was morels target for this season or any season he managed Tamworth?
But what l do know is watching the highlights of the York game was the lack of Tamworth fans.
Good luck Big Bob because if this doesn't work will you be next.

Let's hope the players respond the right way, you've got the short end of the stick Mr Fowler and you need to get more out of them than AM did.

What makes you think Morrell was on 60K, are there any managers on that in this league??  Might give up the day job!

Posted By: happy red
Date Posted: 07 Feb 2018 at 5:42pm
Morrell could have been paid 60k.
He did have players on 800 pounds a week few seasons back. I don't know about now. But I know league below could be two leagues below, a club with
financial problems paying 300 pounds a week plus bonuses.

So based on your knowledge that AM was being paid 60k & and number of players on £800 per week, that’s blows the small budget idea out the water.

No I never said that the players on that kind of money now.
That little guy Tamworth had in the mid field I was told he was on around 800 pounds a week. Durrell was it?
That came from a player. I can't remember for sure but I think he said others was on good money.
Morrell has got the sack, not because of results on the pitch. It's all to do what's going on in the stands. What did the stand manager isay, getting stay away fans
back in the Lamb.

Happy Red, I fully supported AM at every game I went to, but with 4 wins in 21 games says it all.

In the Birmingham Mail it says that in his time with us he had a 47% win rate. If that is correct it is actually a pretty good record. Sorry Argus, just thought I'd balance the argument

Let's face it, if he'd just had a cup run in one of the last three seasons, he'd still be in a job. That's all the club are really bothered about.

Posted By: Bolehall Youth
Date Posted: 08 Feb 2018 at 8:20am
10 wins in 32 games this season, which is around 30%

Well well - didn’t think l would ever see the day - Youth supporting AMs departure and IOM wanting him to stay - funny old game football

Didn't say I wanted him to stay Argus, just pointing out that the stats say he did better than I thought over a ongoing period of time. I think it is time for a change and results are only a part of the reason, perhaps not even the major part.

From what I've heard (from trusted sources) Morrell wasn't on that sort of money, nor did he have players at any point in his tenure on that sort of money.  More like players left (or never came to us in the first place) for figures like that....  If people think Morrell's departure is going to free up large sums of money they've another think coming....

Posted By: Shed93

Presumably Mike will move onto Andy’s wage once he signs a new deal (if successful) and the the new assistant will take Mike wage so there won’t be any money freed up.

Got to get behind MF guys - happens that No2s whoever the No1 was/is it sometimes works on taking over - give him a chance you never know - also AM has gone - some obviously more happy than others on here but MOVE ON - we have what we have - no one what’s us to go down and next two weeks vital for us to deliver on pitch - good results will put us in middle table safety - if it goes 🍐 shaped - oh hum - we all have to make some noise on Saturday - Come on you Lambs

Mike Fowler's a very likeable bloke and easy to talk to and if he can get the team motivated again and get us in the top half of the league that would be acceptable.I really hope he does well, but somehow I see a Dale situation arising.

So was Andy Morrell in fairness

Andy Morrell i think was one of the nicest blokes you could meet.A rarity in football it seems.Regardless of what people may have thought of his management abilities, we should wish him well. Mike Fowler seems to be cut from the same cloth, and i really hope he is able to turn our fortunes around and provide an element of success. Rarely did either of them react to some of the comments from the crowd, unlike their predecessor. My concern is that  MF was a big part of the failed AM regime as was also the case when  Dale Belford took over from Marcus Law having previously been his assistant, and look what happened there! Really hope that this time it works out and as others have said, we do need to give him a chance

Have you never had a job when the person above you does it differently, but you do as asked. Maybe that’s MF, once you have the job, you can change it to your way

Very positive signing arrived at the club. As we used to say “keep it goo in”

I’ve seen him react to fans a few times, as I stand near the dug out, but never in an overly aggressive way, as others have said, a nice guy, & I wish him well for the future.
